Alignment Aides
Four Swooping flanges also known as peeks, provide great weight displacement for perimeter weighting. This aid can come in the form of a dot, line; can be featured on topline or flange.
Aluminum
Material used to make High MOI (moment of inertia) putters. Featuring an anodized finish, aluminum has a low density, high thermal conductivity, and excellent corrosion resistance. Allows Bettinardi to mill larger models, while still keeping the weight proportionate.
Bettinardi “T”
The white Bettinardi “T” site line pops in contrast with the pewter gray finish. This will give the golfer an unmistakable edge of ease in alignment.
Black Chrome
Matte black finish that provides a smooth fancy look.
Black Oxide
Technical term for the darkening process of stainless steel. Contains a more charcoal grey appearance.
Blue Flame
Finish can be done in matte gloss or brushed. The result of special heating technique to stainless steel.
Carbon Steel
The type of metal that is reserved for our production models including BB Series, Studio Stock, and Queen B; carbon steel is an alloy consisting of iron and carbon, and generally known as a very soft metal.
Castings
Age old process involves pouring motel steel into a mold and allowing it to cool. This process inevitably creates porosity (air pockets) throughout the club head. Porosity affects the amount of consistent density at the point of impact on the club head.
CNC
Bob Bettinardi was the first putter designer to bring CNC milling equipment into the putter world in 1991. CNC stands for Computer Numerical Control and allows Bettinardi to mill our putters to extremely tight tolerances.
DASS
Double Aged Stainless Steel (proprietary blend of steel developed by Bettinardi Golf). Because we machine all of our own putters, we only choose the best metal for our premium putters. The metal we buy is sent to a factory that heats the metal to 650 degrees F, then takes it out of the oven, lets it cool. Then the metal is placed back into the oven and baked to 450 degrees F. The metal is extremely soft for milling and has an amazing feel on the golf ball.
Face Balanced
A term applied to putters, face balanced putters have a face that points upwards when the shaft is balanced at the heel and toe level. To test whether your putter is face balanced, lay the shaft of your putter across your palm. If the face lies absolutely horizontal, pointing up at the sky, then it’s a face balanced putter.
F.I.T.
The F.I.T. Face (Feel Impact Technology) is a Bettinardi proprietary milling technique that eliminates the need for inserts. 55% of material is removed directly from the putter face, creating the softest feel. The F.I.T. Face is perfect for players with an aggressive putting style.
Finished Length
The entire distance from the top of grip to the sole of the putter with shaft going through putter sole.
Flow Neck
This style of neck creates a different off-set look. It can be altered to 1/2 or full. Flow necks usually allow for more toe hang on the putter than on a traditional plumbers neck. Gradual bend allowing less offset than a traditional plumbers neck, creating more toe hang.
Fly-Mill
The Fly-Mill face is an aggressive Bettinardi milling technique. The Fly-Mill face produces a muted, yet crisp feel at impact. This face is for those players looking for a responsive feel. The Fly-Mill face is in between the hardest and softest face milling.
Forgings
Involves a multi-ton press slamming down on a piece of steel and forming the club head. The forging process could also create hard and soft spots in the club head due to the metal being slammed into shape. In the forging process the putter head and hozel could be forged separately and then welded together.
Gold Flame
Can be done in matte gloss or brushed finish, result of heating technique to stainless steel.
High Helix Cut
An aggressive machine tool that cuts the face of each wedge, allowing for optimal spin and forgiveness in wet and dry conditions.
Hand Polished
The process of finishing off a newly milled putter head by hand. Smoothing rough edges and uniting milling marks.
Hand Stamped
Stainless stamps that are hammered characters into a surface of the putter head. This process never includes any machinery, actual hands make each stamp.
Heel Toe Weighting
A classic blade style body that maximizes the sweet spot and gives incredible feel and consistency throughout the stroke.
Hextagonal F.I.T.
The Hextagonal design allows for more material to be moved from the impact area of the putter. We are able to remove about 55% of material from the face which results in a softer feel at impact.
High Toe
The putter is formed to flow upward, allowing a more upright display at address. Putters that feature a high toe include our Studio Stock 9, Queen B 6, and Queen B 9 to name a few.
HoneyComb
The HoneyComb face is a patented Bettinardi milling technique. The HoneyComb face produces a firmer feel during the putt and is ideal for golfers who are conscious of green speeds.
Ingot
All Bettinardi putters are milled from ingots of metal. Stainless steel, carbon steel, and aluminum are the three types of metals that Bettinardi Golf uses to make its world-famous putters.
Japanese Bronze
Proprietary finishing application that adheres to carbon steel after putter has been heated resulting in a worn and weathered look.
Length
The total length of the putter measured from the butt end of the grip to the sweet spot of the putter. Many manufacturers measure putters differently, measuring from the heel of the putter to the butt of the grip. The ideal putter length sets your eyes 1-2” inside of the target line to allow you to execute the proper arcing putting stroke while maintaining good posture and balance.
Lie
Downward angle of how the putter sits, the less amount will be completely flat and an increased lie will be more upright.
Loft
The angle of the clubface at address as it is positioned on the shaft. The angle of the club face that controls trajectory and affects distance.
Lower Profile
Shallow profile at address to have the golf ball float above the top line of the putter.
Lower Profile and Narrower Face
Frames the golf ball absolutely perfectly at address and allows the putter to sit below the golf ball.
Made in The USA
Each and every Bettinardi putter is milled at our Tinley Park, IL facility.
One-Piece Technology
Involves milling a putter from start to finish with a solid block of steel. Our CNC milling centers allow us to hold our putters to the same stringent manufacturing tolerances as those in the aerospace industry.
Plumber Neck
A standard 90 degree angle neck that is on the head of a blade.
Prototype
These models are pre-production concepts or head styles that have not yet made it into a family/production line of putters.
Raised Shoulders
Contributes to the perimeter weighting taking weight away from the center of the putter.
Satin Nickel
Similar to our tour blast, finish can be glossed or brushed, gives a classic appearance.
Sightdot
A small dot that appears at the topline of the putter to signify the sweetspot.
Sightline
A line that is engraved into the flange of the putter to help line up the ball with the sweet spot of the putter.
Slight Off Center Shaft
We bring the neck slightly back off center to allow the golfer to use the sight line with an unobstructed view of the golf ball at address.
Snow
Tiny dot imprints on the back flange that are inserted by hand, which gives the visual of snow. Hand stamped snow is more of an attractive visual aid on custom and tour putters.
Stable Platform
Sharper lines moves the shoulders down on the putter head allowing for a thicker top line.
Studio B
Bettinardi Golf’s high-tech fitting facility and customization shop; conveniently located above our factory floor. Our proprietary laser fitting system in conjunction with V1 Sports 4 camera putting system allows our certified club fitter to find a Bettinardi putter that best fits your game and putting stroke.
Super Fly-Mill
Bettinardi’ s Super Fly-Mill is an aggressive milling technology that produces a muted, yet crisp feel that is made for players looking for a responsive feel.
Sweet Spot
Enlarged sweet spot is provided by the detailed weight placement of the putter.
T-Hive
Bettinardi Golf’s Tour logo which is featured on Tour models and limited run models.
Texas Tea
Torched carbon putter finish that is dunked in oil.
The Hive
Release of the most exceedingly distinctive, one of a kind designs on hand selected models featuring diverse looks and appearances with high end finish applications. Availability is on a first come first serve basis and is extremely limited.
Toe Hang
Toe hang is a measure of where the toe of the putter faces when you place the putter head on a flat surface, or balance between your two index fingers. Toe hang is defined in these four measures: 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 and full toe hang. Toe hang is determined by where the shaft or neck enters the putter head.
Torch
Heating process that creates a colorful finish on DASS putters including rainbow, blue or gold. Can be done in matte gloss or brushed finish.
Tour Blast
Finish that creates a beautiful matte appearance for ultimate playability that will retain its color and feel forever.
Tour Model
Made for Tour use only.
TPT
Thermo Plating Technology enhances a number of physical performance properties including abrasion/wear resistance, impact strength, and most importantly feel.
VWS (Variable Weight System)
This is done by custom request and featured on multiple Bettinardi tour models and Antidote putters. Depending on where the weight is removed, certain players prefer variable weights so their swing weight at desired putter length will remain constant.
